VMCs Built for Rigidity, Precision, and Speed
Three models of a new Romi D Series vertical machining center with big-bore spindles and drive packages that promote stability and increased depths-of-cut.
The new versions of ROMI MACHINE TOOLS’ D Series vertical machining center offer users higher productivity, robustness, and precision. Designed and built with customer input, D Series VMCs are based on Romi-produced monoblock cast iron beds that absorb vibration and allow consistent production of highly precise parts.
For U.S. customers Romi offers three models: the D 800, the D 1000, and the D 1250. All three are equipped with “big-bore”, 40-taper direct-drive spindles with speeds of 10,000 or 15,000 rpm. Direct-drive is a low-maintenance feature that improves accuracy and repeatability, while the big-bore 40-taper increases stability and allows increased depths-of-cut during machining.
The machines are equipped with thermal compensation, with sensors, to improve precision. Each model is equipped with a Fanuc 0i-MF i-HMI CNC, a 15-in. touchscreen, and a high speed and high quality package that allows better performance during machining.
Linear roller guides on all three models make possible feed rates up to 1,575 in./minute (40 m/min), for precise and fast acceleration and positioning. These guides also increase sturdiness during machining and load capacity (part weight) on the table.
For the three models, net machine weights and maximum machining volume are:
— D 800 /20,500 lbs. / 31 x 24 x 25 in.
— D 1000 / 21,800 lbs. / 40 x 24 x 25 in.
— D 1250 / 23,000 lbs. / 50 x 24 x 25 in.
Each model is equipped with a 30-tool automatic vertical tool changer.
